Warm up to The Shivers
Tuesday, 02 February 2010 16:27
New York experimental folk outfit The Shivers make beautiful and intriguing music. It’s quirky and honest, confronting and real. There is something very different and magical about The Shivers music, it takes you to a strange quirky but endearing place. There is so much depth to their albums and we are playing them over and over in the Playup office.

Playup gets Jury duty !
Monday, 01 February 2010 13:59
Philadelphia Grand Jury has always been two friends: Berkfinger and MC Bad Genius. Between these two childhood buddies of some 20 years one observes a strange, tedious and sometimes very complicated relationship that always manages to somehow end up in a smart and ruff pop song. Do they even like each other? No one really knows. The Philly Jays’ (as their fans affectionately refer to them) album “Hope is for Hopers” features 12 indie punk tracks that capture the raw energy and songwriting prowess that has led the band to an incredibly long list of impressive achievements within Australia. “The Good news” for us at Playup is that the Philly Jays have joined the family !

Now is the time at Playup for Nathan G !
Monday, 01 February 2010 12:47
Playup is wrapped to welcome Aussie House music veteran Nathan G to the family. You might know him as Nathan G, or you might know him as Groovehunter. In fact, there’s any number of names that he goes under, but one thing is for certain, if you’re a fan of quality house music and you don’t yet know who Nathan G is… you’re doing your ears a disservice. A pioneer of the Australian underground dance music scene and at its forefront for well over a decade, Nathan also regularly tours throughout Europe and the USA. He’s had his tracks championed by luminaries like John Digweed and Danny Tenaglia, and he’s released music on labels like Om, Kinky Vinyl, Dreambeat and more. We have just added a packet of his latest slick offerings into the Playup catalogue!

Playup LOVES Darren Sylvester
Thursday, 22 October 2009 10:36
We are in love with Darren Sylvester’s debut self titled album. It is genius stuff, and we are not the only ones loving it – reviews have been glowing. Taking musical cues drifting from latter day Roxy Music, The Cars and Berlin-era Bowie, through to Phil Spector produced John Lennon, this is a beautifully suave album. Darren wrote, recorded and produced everything on the record and we have been playing it over and over round here and we're just peachy to have him on our party train. The melodramatic and witty flare to the cruzy art-pop tracks on this album is simply bliss.

Halfway through their current USA tour the Whiskey Go Go’s have decided to change their name. Apparently they got fed up of linkage to the famous sunset strip bar of the same name, so we will now know them as……… “OUR MOUNTAIN”. Ok…as long as there is a bar on that mountain we’re sure the boys will be fine.
